I tend to enjoy being in a relationship until it doesn't work out and have been single for about 8 months, but have been dating on and off. I moved to Orange County in January and the job I have taken is a disaster. I am liking the area more and more.

I am debating a position in Santa Barbara vs taking another job in Orange County. I have traveled extensively and have worked in many areas in North America and am really looking for somewhere to plop myself down and settle in these days. I haven't lived in a smallish town since I finished school 13 years ago and it is obviously a different experience meeting women when you are constantly around women your age in school.
I tend to meet my dates online these days as, I think, most people do since I have been in new areas for the past year or so and don't know many people in the area. I'm a decent looking guy, fit, with a decent job maybe not by wealthy SB standards, but k and women tend to like me. I'm not into dating multiple people, clubs, bars, etc.
Just wondering if living somewhere so small would limit my possibility of meeting someone special to develop a relationship. Also, I live a pretty simple lifestyle -- not into fancy cars, deer this or that, etc. My goals are pretty basic: to have a job I enjoy as least most of the time and to buy a small house with a yard, get a dog again and meet someone interesting to spend time with. Meeting a few good friends would be nice as well.
I'm kind of done with traveling for now and want to live somewhere that I enjoy enough that I won't have that constant desire to fly or drive away to far-off places. I've gotten away from some things that I enjoy in the past 2 years due to lots of turmoil in my personal and professional life hiking, outdoors, etc.
Rambling is done -- what are women like in the area? Is living somewhere so small a great impediment to meeting someone?
Are there many single women in the area ages ? I have heard from some people that it is "all" retirees and college students with a few families thrown in the mix. Originally Posted by Daveydoe.
