This is closing week for the side-by-side Ichiban Japanese Grill and Sitar Indian Cuisine, though each restaurant is in the planning stages to re-open in new locations. Both received notice about one month ago that they would have to move from the complex next to the old AMF Bama Lanes bowling alley.
Sitar has been at 15th St. Ichiban has been at 15th St. Ichiban closed March 18, and Sitar planned its last day of operations at that site to be Saturday. It went on to say the family would use time in between closing and relocating to get plenty of rest, and that updates and news would be posted on social media. Sitar planned to serve its last meals at the 15th Street location Saturday. Raji Pruthi opened in that location as Maharaja in ; inhis mother, Mandi Pruthi, took over the restaurant and re-named it Sitar. Raji Pruthi went on to other local restaurant opportunities.

A spokesperson for Sitar said the business is in negotiations for a new location, and can't anticipate a re-opening date until that's settled. Wherever that is, it won't be a turn-key operation: Sitar's clay oven will have to be moved in, and other renovations may be required.
